Join Fairbanks Arts in the Bear Gallery for our August exhibitions: Reindeer Man by Alex Rydlinski and With liberty and justice for by Inari Kyl?nen. Reindeer Man is the result of Rydlinski’s year-long collaboration with Fairbanks reindeer farmer, George Aguiar. Through a series of paintings and etchings, the exhibition moves through the reindeer life cycle from birth to slaughter, with a clear focus on the human trials throughout. In With liberty and justice for, artist Inari Kyl?nen examines her own immigration experience and contrasts it with others’ experiences. This exhibition is her attempt to make sense of her own conflicting feelings about being an American, questions about home and familiarity, and concerns about American ideals and how the nation falls short of them. These exhibitions are on view in the Bear Gallery from August 6–28, 2021. The gallery will be open from 12–7 pm on Friday, August 6 for the opening day. For the rest of the month, join us in the gallery Monday–Saturday, 12–6 p.m. Visitors are highly encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing and the gallery currently has a 15-guest limit in place.
