The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. For over 40 years, NAMI Fairbanks has provided advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so that individuals and families affected by mental illness can live healthy, fulfilling lives supported by a community that cares.
Funds raised from this annual major fundraiser will be used to help NAMI continue to provide its programs and services free of charge to participants. Some of its programs and services include: NAMI Helpline, Support group meetings, education courses, advocacy, community presentations, scholarships at UAF, and lending library.
NAMI Fairbanks collaborates with mental health and law enforcement agencies to offer Crisis Intervention Team academy for law enforcement. It is a partner agency with the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority to submit behavioral health minigrants for Trust beneficiaries. It serves local youth and young adults in middle/high schools as well as at UAF to offer mental health resources such as NAMI Ending the Silence for Students, Parents, and Staff and NAMI on Campus clubs.
NAMI Fairbanks charges no fees for services or programs, and is supported by donations from our wonderful community.
