Join Fairbanks Arts in the Bear Gallery for a literary reading and presentation with Bukasai Ashawaga!
This free event will start at 6:00 pm in the Bear Gallery. All attendees are required to wear a mask.
Bukasi Ashawaga will be reading from two of his books of poetry, Beyond ~ the Alyeskan Interior ~ a Way of Being and Up the Mtn: Cherry blossoms and Cascading pink n’ white petals Spring foliage. He will also be presenting on the structure of the haiku art-form.
Byron Dudley publishes his poetry under the pen name, Bukusai Ashagawa. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY and New Jersey. In 1984, he moved to Eugene, Oregon to attend the University of Oregon as a track & field and cross-country athlete. He lived in Eugene on and off for over thirty years. During that time he traveled extensively to Asia, especially to Japan, where he lived for a short time. During his last stay in Japan, he participated in a six month Artist In Residency program. In 2016, he moved to the Alaskan Interior where he lived in Chatanika for five years and recently moved to Fairbanks.
