The Project Controls Specialist is responsible for the tracking, gathering and submittal of project documentation to various parties and the establishment and maintenance of project documentation files. This position is also responsible for creating, updating and communicating budgets and schedules for all capital work.

Starting Salary Range: $81,459 - $89,126

This is an in-person position located in Fairbanks, Alaska.

What you will do

  • Develop, track and report project financial status, variances, trending and analysis of expenditures.
  • Work with Project Managers to review project costs and forecast likely future project costs.
  • Responsible for coordinating, tracking, reviewing, and compiling data from various business units within the company, including GIS, accounting, engineering, and contractor-required data for the closeout package submission.
  • Creation and maintenance of positive working relationships with government personnel is required.
  • Ensure all information and documentation submitted to the government is accurate, professional and complete.
  • Develop and implement project controls standards and procedures and monitor compliance.
  • Communicate areas of concern to Project Managers, the Director of Project Management and other management personnel.
  • Visualizes, articulates and solves a variety of problems and concepts and makes appropriate decisions based on available information and with limited supervisory input.
  • Input and audit project costs, funding sources, submission dates, in the project groups database.

Conditions of Employment
Must pass a pre-employment drug test, random drug test thereafter in accordance with the published policy of Doyon Utilities. Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska. Must be eligible to work on a military installation in Alaska. Eligibility to work on a military installation includes compliance with Department of Defense mandates with respect to employee background and health directives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, construction management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Preferred
  • 3 years experience in the construction or utility industry. Preferred
  • 2 years using Microsoft Project. Preferred
  • Experience in the development of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), scheduling and schedule analysis, cost estimating and controls desired. (Medium proficiency)
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. (High proficiency)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (High proficiency)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (High proficiency)
  • Ability to work independently (High proficiency)
  • Strong decision making ability (High proficiency)
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills (High proficiency)
