LEAD BIG PROJECTS – BUILD BIG IN ALASKA
Looking to take your commercial construction career to the next level? This senior role is the chance to lead high-profile projects, direct project teams, and make an impact on the company’s growth.
If you have experience in commercial construction—especially Federal contracting—strong technical know-how, and excellent communication skills, you’ll thrive here. This is a role for career-minded professionals ready to take on unique projects, contribute to organizational decisions, and grow with a company that values ownership, teamwork, and excellence.
The best part? There’s room to shape your own path. Future opportunities could include advancing within the organization, exploring new business sectors, or even relocating within Alaska to open a project office. You’ll be joining a professional, value-driven team with the support and freedom to grow—both personally and professionally—as you help shape Alaska’s next big projects.
Your day-to-day: In this role, you’ll take the lead in preparing project cost estimates and proposals, performing labor and material takeoffs, and gathering subcontractor quotes. You’ll collaborate closely with the design team and subcontractors to ensure proposals deliver the best value while minimizing risk, and you’ll assist with preparing job scopes, subcontracts, and construction schedules.
Day-to-day responsibilities include resolving technical questions with clients, designers, subcontractors, and other project partners; managing the submittal register and RFI log; and documenting project condition changes while submitting change requests. You’ll also prepare pay requests, review and code subcontractor and supplier invoices, and contribute to progressive job cost reports. With a focus on cost control, you’ll provide value engineering ideas and help ensure budgets remain on track for profitability.
Beyond financial oversight, you’ll assign resources to projects, participate in building project teams, and work with superintendents, Quality Control Managers, and Site Safety and Health Officers to ensure construction activities meet requirements.
The position also includes active involvement in quality management, leading project status meetings, maintaining clear client communication, and attending site meetings as needed. Depending on the company’s immediate needs, you may occasionally step into the role of Project Engineer, Project Superintendent, or Construction Quality Control Manager, making flexibility and collaboration key to your success.
You need:
- 10+ years of demonstrated experience managing construction projects and overseeing teams
- Ability to read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and codes
- Estimating and proposal experience
- Strong computer skills, including experience with MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam, MS Office Suite, and bid management software
- Excellent technical and analytical skills with an ability to solve problems
- Excellent organizational skills with proficiency in organizational tools or software
- Ability to communicate strategically and efficiently, both written and verbally
- Superior customer service mindset
- Proven ability to multitask and have a “roll up the sleeves” mentality
- Ability to establish good working relationships, both internally and with external stakeholders
- Passion and drive for the future of the organization
Strongly preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or Construction Management
